In terms of layout, our locomotive kits resemble traditional cardboard cutout models. Design software and reprographic computers are used to transfer the layouts to a specialized production line, in which ferric chloride is used to etch away the unwanted nickel silver that is surrounding the details. As the etching process affects both sides of the sheet metal, it is possible to create folding grooves, fake rivet heads, and other raised patterns.

The details are separated from the carrier frame by means of a small pair of cutting pliers. Much of the kits can be glued together (CA style glue is recommended), using miniature brass rivets as mechanical support. Some assembly steps benefit from soldered or screwed joints.

We must emphasize that we are talking advanced model building here – some experience of metal working and soldering is highly recommended! The kits are completely unmotorized, which means that a suitable mechanism must be obtained before the models are able to roll out. Absolutely nothing for the beginner, but many hours of pastime challenges for the skilled rail fan!

10 H.P. Söderblom, 1:20.3 scale

Etched kit, made from 0.5mm nickel silver. The kit consists of the etched sheet, two 32mm gauge axles (for static display), rivets and raw material for all the tiny components. This large-scale kit is not too hard to motorize, but we leave that, as well as painting and weathering, to the builder’s own resources.

Sala Maskinfabrik W-8 class, 1:35 scale

Etched kit, made from 0.25mm nickel silver. The kit consists of the etched sheet, two 16.5mm gauge axles (for static display), rivets and raw material for all the tiny components. The space available for motor and transmission is in this case very limited, but an experienced micro mechanic will probably come up with a functional drive unit! Turned details (like chimney and spark arrester), paint, and weathering agents are not included in the kit.

The price for European residents is SEK 680.00 (P&P included).
Customers from the rest of the world pay SEK 700.00 (P&P included).
